That would have the same problem as ribbon cable - it won't lie flat when going round bends.

Imagine a disk. It would go ncely round the edge of the disk. But how woud you get it flat round the face of the disk?
It would need to be strectchy not bendy.

I've got some of those on the roof. They generate electricity from nothing.

 

My first thoughts would be either Blu Tack or Plasticine, although Plasticine may leave an oily mark that would show if the wood were to be stained afterwards.
There is a low tack tape used for veneer work. I think it is similar to the low tack masking tape that draftsmen used to use before they days of CAD. It holds well (will strongly hold veneer seams together), leaves no visible evidence after removal and the wood accepts all types of stain and other finishes afterwards.

 

Just saw a TV commercial for Gorilla brand, double sided tape. No idea if it can be removed later, sorta doubt it based on my experience with Gorilla. But maybe worth a look.
