I was expecting something like a semi tractor. Apparently there is a plan for that driver since it wasn't his time yet. Apparently he was not the first but previous drivers were not as fortunate. That was one lucky, very lucky driver.

Birmingham Alabama has all of its through-town freeways elevated for some godawful reason. You come down off the mountain and hit the elevated 6 lanes and it becomes a sheet of ice in freezing rains. They always have to show the pictures on the local news of the cars and trucks skating out of control when it happens. Can't remember any fatalities but lots of pileups.

Brutal weather conditions in Texas, stay at home if possible.

Very bad crashes.
Wife just brought up a few images of one seventy vehicle pileup which left six people dead. The thing with ice storms or freezing rain is once you hit it there is not a whole hell of a lot you can do about it. Whenever possible just avoid it. When you can't avoid it try and keep the speed down. Bridges and elevated roads become a nightmare.

One of the reasons I did not take that job in texas. Austin. The boss had just been sent to the hospital after severe injuries in a similar ice on the highway accident. Lucky for me I guess because that company (AMD) really failed in that location. Not to make hate on those Texans but that was not a good opportunity and glad I didn’t take it.
