Well, the firefighters have a great story of another day on the job. :) I would like to say "now I have seen it all but we never know what tomorrow will bring.

A U.S. Customs Maritime Patrol boat spotted a suspect pleasure boat (they called it a “Go Fast” boat entering U.S. waters from Mexico. The boat was speeding north and flying a large American flag (a flag too big for the boat). They followed behind at a distance towards Mission Bay. The Customs boat called for a U.S. Border Patrol boat to set up along the jetty in the Mission Bay Channel and wait for the suspect boat. When the boat tried to enter the channel, they spotted the U.S.B.P. boat and stopped. The U.S.B.P. approached and boarded the boat. Eight illegal immigrants were found onboard. The boat was taken to the City of San Diego Lifeguard docks, and the eight were placed under arrest. There is 1 Chinese male, 6 Hispanic males, and 1 Hispanic female. HANDLING AGENCIES: U.S. Customs Maritime & U.S. Border Patrol

Supposedly we're all going to starve to death within the year.

Sorta like the Great Cotton Bale Famine of 1863.

"Get down turn around pick a bale of cotton..."

My WAG(s):

1. Helicopter pilot had his eyes closed.

2. Helicopter pilot mistook another aircraft for Flight 5342, and did not have visual.

Nothing else makes sense (well, malice, but I don't even consider that).

Maybe the air traffic controllers made a mistake?
