Glad I'm not a passenger

On the one hand, it's not unreasonable to examine calls signs (and other things) to see if anything looks amiss or inappropriate, or to hold people reasonably accountable for doing things that reflect poorly on the service, but it's also not unreasonable for people not to notice something that someone else might find offensive (I doubt I would have questioned IDIC69 as being objectionable since my mind usually just doesn't automatically go there) and it's getting to the point where the punishment for these types of things is completely out of proportion to the crime.

We had some good inside joke call signs at times.

Last name, Organ. Call sign, Tiny.

Missing scissors cause 36 flight cancellations in Japan
Plus a further 200 delays, rockstars knocked off stage … all on a holiday weekend

Happily, the scissors were eventually found – in the very same shop from which they had gone missing, and not in the hands of someone nefarious. But it took time for authorities to verify the scissors were the missing cutters and not another misplaced pair.

With swells of more than 25 feet forecast for the area, the USS William P. Lawrence, a guided missile destroyer, had just a six-hour window to help the woman and child.

A small boat crew from the ship was able to launch and rescue the woman, the child, and their two pets - a cat and a tortoise. Waves ranged between eight and 10 feet as the small-boat operations were conducted, authorities said. "Deft handling" and "good judgment" were necessary to save the day, said U.S. Navy Commander Bobby Wayland in the news release.

Down a few streets. Heard the boom, house shook, and power switched to my backup solar bank UPS a few times. The girls window was open, said she heard a swoosh like the engine was off before the crash

That's not a similar plane at all. That's a Cessna 172 Skyhawk.

The one report I've read so far said that the plane that crashed was a Cessna 421 (called the Golden Eagle).
