hi,
I need a little help regarding formation of a small circuit. I have a 12 volt battery and a 5mm led diode. I just want to check forward and reverse bias test. For that purpose I use breadboard and mount a diode ,resistor and 5mm led diode (all connected with battery) .The test works fine but the thing which is confusing me that when I connect it with a battery then in what order first should I mount

1- (a) Resistor , (b) diode , (c) 5mm led diode
or
2- (a) Diode , (b) resistor , (c) 5mm led diode

Which formation is technically batter.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I am beginner in it. The porpose of diode is only just to experiment forward and reverse bias test .
If I unmounted the diode my circuit even works . I just want to know the current formation for own experiment of my breadboard.

hi,
I usually have the resistor connected to the +Vsupply and the LED to 0V.
I would advise not to apply 12V DC reverse voltage to your LED.
The reverse breakdown voltage can be as low as approx 5V depending on LED type.
