How does the phase shift winding get power?
C1 has to alternate in series with each winding in turn, as in the post 14 Pdf.
Sounds like the OP has it figured.

Here's my schematic modified to what I think you stated were the motor winding connections.
Note that I also modified the relay wiring so that RY4 is energized only when the motor is running.

With power applied to the circuit and connections as I originally stated, I did not hear any relays being energized.

Then I would double-check all the connections with an ohmmeter to make sure it's wired correctly.

OK, now I'm confused.
If the gate control works fine then what is the problem you referred to with the relays not energizing?

What I meant is that when 120 vac is applied to the circuit, no relays seem to be energized until the latching relay receives the impulse. When this happens, all works perfectly. I assumed it was desirable to have no relays energized when the circuit is in a passive state. (Hope my explanation is clear??) My comment in #22 was supposed to refer to Max' comment in #21. Do you have thoughts on #21?

Yes, the last circuit I posted was designed to have no relays energized when either of the limit switches is open and the motor stopped.

 

Maybe because the schematic in #21 displays incomplete for some reason?
