Fast sensor for use with KY-008 laser module.

Hi Folks,
I've started using Arduino units to create triggers for high speed flash photography. I'm using KY-008 laser modules but not sure of most efficient/fast acting sensor/receiver. I understand photodiodes are faster than photoresisters but I'm unsure of what is a recommended compatible for use with the KY-008.
My current rig works but not sensitive or fast enough to react to beam being interrupted by water drops.
