EMP-hardened sex dolls. Warning time for catastrophic solar EMP bombs. Great stuff, but all I wanted to know was how well those bags could provide shielding, compared to simpler methods like tin cans and aluminum foil, so items inside could not be detected or accessed - any information on that topic? ;)

Yes, the bags provide some shielding but at low values of attenuation. A signal 30-40dB down might stop access on the regular network but a penetration expert with good equipment will still be able to detect and access the device. ;)
 
Faraday shields typically have screen openings much, much less than the wavelength of the offending electric field.

Interrogators have difficulty reading when the interrogated object is near (not necessarily inside) a metal can. Modern wallets have shielded CC pockets (foil). My Ford F-150 key-fob works when wrapped in Reynold's wrap foil, but some attenuation was noted with distance. Neighbors CC's were stolen when he went to a local fair. He did not have a shielded wallet. A RFID seminar I attended opened a new technology for identifying, interrogating and modifying data. Boeing aircraft currently uses RFID for all parts, showing p/n, mfgr., date installed, maintenance history (if applicable).
