The first edition is a lot cheaper at Abe's than the 3rd. Good enough for my needs I assume?
I have the 3rd edition so I have no idea how they differ.
CAM is the machining generation of the CAD program with tool length/offsets etc, it also has a post processor that converts it all to G-code for your particular machine.
Max.

Will HSM Express do the isolation routing for PCBs too? I am really trying to avoid PCBGcode because I am forced to use Eagle. I really like Diptrace. I find Eagle confusing. I wish they would not have coupled PCNGcode so tightly to Eagle.
I wasn't aware you were doing PCB milling.. There isn't a built in function for that..
But if you can get the dxf file into it then there is a "trace" function that should work just fine..
Never tried it..

Not just PCB milling. I plan to do engraving and cutting project boxes too. Just I was hoping it did the isolation for PCB. I will check out the trace function. Thanks.

Engraving isn't a feature (yet) in HSM express.. Its in the full blown version though..
Again though.. trace can be used but your letters must be lines (and a few other tricks)

cutting project boxes... no problem
