Exceptions to y=x∗h for discrete-time, LTI systems

My professor mentioned in lecture today that there are exceptions to the rule that y=x∗h (convolution) for discrete-time, LTI systems, and he challenged us to come up with one. However, nothing comes to mind.

Any ideas?
