Speaking of abiogenesis, I only recently stumbled upon Prof. James Tour, the man has serious credentials and a track record of innovation and wealth generation from nanotechnology, chemistry and biochemistry, definitely worth listening to, some of his team's research has directly contributed to electronics even.
There are several solid debunking videos about Tour.

Here is one that's rather extensive:

For me the mechanisms of life are a no brainer, and science will eventually figure it out, but the real issue is life is more than the sum of its parts, and I have my doubts that science will ever figure that aspect out.

And don't get me wrong, I love science...but I'm just one of those heretics who believe that there are some things that are not within the realm of science, and that science is not the end-all some people believe it is.

You're right, in fact science is outside the realm of science, by which I mean we cannot scientifically explain why scientific explanations are possible.

At the most basic (and almost purely incidental) level evolution of course works by natural selection. On a deeper level however there are other factors at work as well.

One for example being the "shear will" of the beast to change or transform itself to obtain some sort of ability. Goats for instance at some point decided to explore steep hillsides. Over time this results in not only a change in mental state of these creatures, even from birth, but also subtle physiological changes were almost certainly passed along in the natural selection phase of things.

Another is the metaphysical aspect where an organism's mere consciousness sets in motion a "Godspirit unfolding" of sorts where things such as metamorphosis come from. That is, the actual universe itself participates in the articulation of the evolutionary process.

There are others I am sure. Many of these mechanisms will likely never be explored by science in any case but even so I just thought it might be worth mentioning of a couple of them anyway. =)
