Estimating poles and zeroes in an arbitrary circuit

I am still not very clear on the zero value time constant analysis method and have a few questions on estimating poles and zeroes. For the circuit above:

1. When estimating the poles, you short the source and calculate resistance seen from that point, and capacitance to ground. How do you calculate the zeroes then? Because if you use the same method, all capacitance will end up being parallel with ground.
2. Fundamentally, aren't poles just low pass filters and zeroes just high pass filters? If so, how do you get a RHP pole or a LHP zero (since the phase usually decreases in both low and high pass filters)?

Thanks!
