Hi,

I attach two pictures. An EMI supressor capacitor which is labeled as B32924 X2 2.2uF 305 VAC and a Run capacitor labeled as CBB6104-2 205uF 450 VAC 50-60Hz.

My question is:

Could a Run capacitor work as EMI supressor capacitor? I know they have different purposes, that's why I ask so I don't use them without a clear knowledge. I think there is an issue with the frequency that might not allow to use them indistintly.

 

A run capacitor, providing it is not bi-polar, which that one appears to be, can be used for suppression, if needed.
The second appears to be a WIMA style high insulation resistance - low self-inductance type so has many favorable qualities and capability for many applications.
