You will love this book and now it is a free download! In the 1980's I knew several people who paid quite a bit of money for this one.

The art of electronics is usually the most recommended one, from what I usualy hear in the forums.

 

The publication date is in the 1980's so some of the material on processors and digital electronics will be outdated. It predates the wide adoption of surface mount technology. It is still a useful work and the price is definitely right.
