I am trying to understand EC Sensors. Read about it a bit and it gives impedance plane methods - find this confusing, it plots inductance (Y axis) vs Resistance (X-axis). Any help appreciated.

Here is an excellent article on Eddy Current testing. Starting at section 4.3.8.10 the impedance plane representation is explained in depth, and how to calculate and interpret the results.
