Getting near the end of my stock of DVD-R, so I bought some more - they wouldn't burn!

Eventually; I rummaged out a drive of more recent manufacturer, and so far it hasn't complained about the new disks.

Someone told me its due to out of date firmware on the affected drives, but didn't tell me any more than that.

Anyone know of an online resource for info on this?

Hello,

Over time the DVD writers have become faster.
The DVD disks have a range of speeds that are allowed to burn with.
My burning program reports the possible speeds.
The older drives will not work with the new disks.
