Does anyone have any experience with an LG window air conditioner? The compressor runs continually, will not cycle and when turning the unit off it still runs. Yes, a stuck relay is the likely suspect but unplugging the unit and then plugging it back in the compressor stops until turned on again. It is a 15K btu unit. Today I'm checking the capacitors on the little board. Apparently this is a common problem with this brand but the only reply you will get is to buy a new module. Baloney, I want to fix this module..

It is an LG model LW1516ER 15,000 btu. It runs perfectly with all speeds functional and cools like it should. What is wrong is that the compressor runs continually, never cycles and will freeze the evaporator and spit water. When turning unit off, fan and all turns off except the compressor continues to run. The usual thinking is that the relay is stuck closed and banging control board does nothing.
However, when unit is unplugged and plugged back in will make the compressor stop until turned on again which would not be a stuck relay. It's something in the little control module. All capacitors on the board look and check OK.

 

I will check that out as that is very plausible.
