Does an IC signal pin need a resistor between it and a 5 V power supply?

I want to use a laptop display inverter with an LX1686 controller. According to the datasheet the ENABLE pin has a threshold of 2.7-3.6 V. Presumably that means it will also be fine at 5 V which is the voltage required by the inverter board. I was therefore intending to connect the ENABLE pin directly to the 5 V power source. I was wondering whether that's okay or whether there ought to be a resistor between the pin and the 5 V power?
