I asked here about finding the pin out of a 4 digit 7 segment display salvaged from a treadmill console circuit board and got great help. I have another question on a LCD display salvaged from the same board. It has no markings that I can find. It has a flat plastic ribbon cable with 24 contacts on it. The cable is similar to the ribbon cables that connect a laptop keyboard.
What is that type of cable/connector called? And what are the chances of finding out what the pinouts are? LCD is not like those you would use with an Arduino. This one looks like it's just a piece of glass. The plastic carrier for it had 2 pins on each end for mounting through hole(soldered) on the console circuit board. I enjoy reusing salvaged components to learn from. Or, it just could be my Scottish heritage...
