A dimmer for a simple LED light bulb.

MOC3041 makes triac to fire at start of half-cycle and to stop at its end.

A microcontroller makes a half-cycle ON and a half-cycle OFF.

Should halve the light intensity. In Proteus simulation works.
In practice very quickly flashing LED bulb.

why ?

Proteus probably doesn't 'know' how fast the LED can turn on and off (unlike a light bulb ). In fact the light intensity IS dimmed on average.

What frequency are you using? LED bullbs for normal lighting are now sold as 'dimmable', which implies that 60 Hz turm on/off isn't visible.
