Hi,

I am looking to build a digital timer for a gym.

The basic requirements will be a digital display which will count down from a user specified variable value (eg, 2 mins). After the 2 mins is up the device will bleep and then starts to count down from 2 mins again.
The device should also have a reset button which when pressed will begin the 2min countdown again.
As stated before, the countdown time will be variable
The device will also have a standard on/off button.

Can anyone suggest an outline for such a project including what I will need.

Please bear in mind, I am not an experienced project/practical guy but I do have basic understanding of electronics (theory).

circuit diagrams and explanations and a list of equipment needed would be a great help

Thanks :)

Funny you should mention that, I have digital stadium timer I was designing, the only section I breadboarded and tested was the countdown timer. I'll attach my drawing as soon as I find it.

Look at sheet 3. I didn't use the mux part in the breadboard.

Is 2 and 3 minutes suitable for your needs? I might breadboard the rest of it sometime if I thought someone else was interested.

I was thinking car horns for the buzzer, but that can be scaled back.
