I constructed/painted plastic model birds (life size) back in the late 60's of an oriole, blue jay, robin, cardinal, canary finch, and red-shouldered blackbird. I still had several of them up until a few years ago. I helped my older brother with some of his model cars, but he never gave me any credit for my work!
I gave my 7 year old grandson a book on making cool paper airplanes. He got in trouble for making/flying planes during church (he goes to a Luthern school) and so his parents put the blame on me!!

I used to be Luthren so don't worry they blame everyone. One time they even blamed JC.

Memory is weird, my first memory is when I almost died when my mother was carrying me, my next memory was 3 months later. I was 1.5 - 2 YEAERS old.

 

I made an RC glider, an RC diesel engine plane (neither of which flew successfully) and a tissue and balsa rubber powered Spitfire pretty similar to this, but made by Kiel Kraft (no longer around). I'm amazed kits like this are still being made, they are pretty fun to build.

The RC models were a bit simpler with sheet balsa boxy fuselages and covered in a self adhesive, heat shrink plastic, which is easier to use than tissue and dope.

Glued together the USS New Jersey a long time ago, it was at about 50cm long. Can't remember the manufacturer.

Since then I prefer diorama and custom landscape modelling, not kits.
I also painted several dozens of "Warhammer-like" figures from the Lord of the Rings theme.

I 'm alot into LEGO, but I think that's offtopic.

I think people should be able to show off other things they do - this thread is more for creative things, like making models - be it from scratch, a kit, or from lego.

I tried making cool things out of lego - but always ended up making a plane. :/

I 'll post some photos when I get back home in the end of August. I 'm on vacation right now.

I have samples of diorama, but nothing on LEGO right now. I 've disassembled everything.

The models I 'm most proud of are a LEGO port I built at my 16 complete with a ship, an operating crane, a lighthouse and dock buildings. It covered four regular LEGO base tiles.
The other construction I 'm proud of was a motor transmission decoder I built the next year. It took one axis' rotational movement and with the use of three selector levers it distributed it to three more axes. All that in a 10x15x25 stud volume aproximately.

Later I got involved with mindstorms. I got the kit, built the ready-made plans and also constructed a room explorer tri-wheel robot. Then I started reading books on the topic, but I dropped all of the projects due to the lack of parts.

However, last year I got a huge discarded 4x4 Technics racecar that is full of geared goodies. Who knows, maybe I 'll start over when I get my degree and have spare time.

 

This was the last bird I owned and flew before I left the hobby oh I miss her a Mikado Logo 10, kontronics controller, and motor. Ran on 6 cell lipo. She was a beast!
Carbon fiber everythings, blades spun around 2900rpm, could fully invert it and to standard moves. Basic 3d. In the video shows extreme 3D. I encourage anyone that wants to get into this in planes and even more so helis, just buy a controller and a good simulater like Reflex. That will save you 10's of thousands of dollars. Then learn to fly on your PC while your building your first HELI (I recommend a align Trex 450 size. Small, cheap,tons of parts, and tons for sale. Get the SE version if possible, the cnc alum rotor and cyclic are worth it alone, kit prices are good and the batteries run mostly 3 cells, but some of the hardcore guys use 4 cells. But if anyone wants to learn to fly em or get into it feel free to pm me or ask any questions. I was hardcore into it for about 2-3 years.

Oh and building a proper working balanced heli is 10 times harder then flying one. I even let a friend who couldn't ever figure out how to build his fly my Trex450SE. I was scared, but It was such a good build and flew like a miricle with the expo set right. He lifted it right up around 5 ft putted around the parking lot for a min then landed. He was so stoke he was in shock how easy it flew. His previous flights had always ended in mechanical failure.
