Hello

I am a phd student who wants to regulate the voltage of a 1000W bulb to regulate its light intensity. I do not have a background in electrical. What options should I consider for accuracy as well as durability of setup?

Thanks

What is the end-purpose of the Bulb ?

What is the purpose of regulating the Power to the Bulb ?

Will the Power-Regulation be manual, or automatic, or both ?

If it is just for experimental purposes, over a fairly short time frame, then use a variac. The labs will have lots of them.

You haven't disclosed if this is AC or DC and if AC, phase control is the most common method.
Power Triacs or dual SCR's can be used with appropriate ratings, heatsinked of course.
