DC "Shunt", 30A or 50A current meter?

My circuit is about q 20A consumption, and prefer to buy a current meter of 50A with a shunt in case my other future projects may require more than 20A. My doubt, would it be an issue about the 20A and 50A or 100A shunts are much different in resistance? Any adverse effect to my relevant circuitry function?

The shunt resistance is determined by the mV full-scale rating of the shunt (typically 50 or 100mv).
The shunt resistance is then the mV rating divided by the full-scale current.
