Morning all, So I have a popped mosfet in a cordless drill that I was looking up online and I finally remembered to ask a question that I've wanted to for a while but never did; For you experienced folks, how do you go about cross-referencing components to find alternative/equivalents?

I saved these for later for sure.. but for this particular case I can't find the part number anywhere :)
If curious it's an STP75NS04Z

Yeah no datasheets are fine.. I did find it there. It's the cross-referencing to others that escaped me. Also and maybe more importantly, equivalents, if there even is some secret way to find those the inner circle folks lol.

When repairing electronics at the component level was a viable economic proposition these lists were more common. Sometimes they were even published by manufacturers to aid in the identification of second sources for commodity parts. In the past two decades board replacement has obviated the economic need to do repair at the component level since the burdened cost of technician time exceeds the cost of entire boards. Despite what you might want to believe there is no secret cabal of people with cross reference lists that they share.
