Cool 555 circuit, use transistors instead of LEDs?

Yes, those boards seem to be what you’re looking for. I missed the protoboard like connections in your ExpressPCB layout. The eyes aren’t as good as they used to be.

Since you had trouble with creating solder bridges (tiny wires are not necessary), I’m glad you found the protoboards.

Personally, I find creating the solder bridges is not a problem. First, I solder the components and wire. Then after trimming the leads, I put my iron between two points to be bridged until BOTH connections melt. Finally, I add more solder and drag the iron away bridging the two points. Drag, don’t lift the iron.

$10 is much better than $150. Or another way, your cost is $3.67 versus $15 per board. Or 24% of the cost.

Good luck!

Part of my problem is not having the tools, no soldering work station with a magnifying glass and I'm old with old eyes. :)

So how much do I owe you for saving me $130.00? lol

Instead of bridges I like to use leads that have been cut away from THT components for test boards. They are nice and firm so much easier to bend out the shape you need and hold on to with tweezers while soldering it.

That looks like a really fun circuit, and yes I think that's what I want. Whats the 190418A DC meaning? Does that suggest up to 8 Amps?

What made you think of that? Are you just telling me if I build DickCapples circuit that I need the 5.1v zeners? I thought the zener would just control the direction of the flow of energy.
190418A DC is just to identify the document so I recognize it if I run across it again or need to locate it on my computer.

The Zeners assure that one transistor or the other is off because pin 3 of the NE555 does not swing from rail to rail. You can probably use resistors but I used Zeners to improve the liklihood of success.
