I registered here just to respond to this thread. I'm very interested in this same topic, but it looks like Dave went AWOL shortly after this post. Can anyone here share their opinion on any of the commercially available products for this purpose that are on the market today? For example, NoFence... How do these systems accurately pinpoint the location of the cows in relation to the fence line in light of the issues of GPS pinging innacurately more than a couple meters at a time? Is this sort of system possible to accurately use where only 2G and 3G is reliable and 4G (LTE) is not very reliable? What about at the bottom of valleys and canyons where cell signal is extremely weak?Back to cost per cow unit for a moment ...

$143 so far. I suppose in mass production this cost could be dropped in half or perhaps less. Which works I think.
