i have a doubt. if we take a fm radio and remove a few turns off the oscillator coil the frequency moves up. lets say from 88-108mhz to 113-130mhz.
now this 113-130mhz is FM, right? but my friend says it is 113-130mhz in AM band. which is correct?

The range between 88-108Mhz is defined a global standard for radio stations frequency to transmit. if you change the input frequencies of your circuit the radio will still receive fm signals but the music will be between 113-108MHz. Between 108-130MHz you wont receive music but something else which i dont know what it will be. It doesnt matter if the AM band is 113-130MHz because the signal in AM transmission is modulated in a different way then FM so an FM receiver cant demodulate an AM signal.

 

your friend was talking about the radio band and he/she was right. you cannot tune into AM using your FM radio, can you?

 

What you need is an aircraft band radio, AM. John
