I need to illuminate a handfull of common anode RGB LEDs, preferably 9 in sync in 5 different colored groups. My plan was to have 3 series of 3 off 12v. 45 LEDs * 3 colors / 3 in each series. But then I realized that I can't do this with LEDs sharing an anode or cathode. If I put them all in parallel that will be 2.7 amps as opposed to .9 amps. Do I have any way around this?

I can't visualize what this means:

9 in sync in 5 different colored groups.

 

The finished product will simply be 5 different groups of colors. Each group will be the same color but will also need about 9 LEDs to be as bright and widely angled as I need.

 

So, from a single RGB pkg, you can theoretically get 7 colors: R, G, B, R-G, R-B, B-G, and R-G-B. Does this relate at all to what you want to do?

 

Yes, but I will be PWMing them to get 256^3 colors
