Is it feasible to design and integrate the LED (Red,Green,Blue etc) instead of Single color Bulb in the Colourful Diwali Lanterns for illumination?.

Reference : Chandelier.

Preparing celebrations a little early are we?
Do they have more than one lamp holder?
If a chandelier I would expect so, so why the question?

I have seen LED devices that go through most of the rainbow. But I am not at all familiar with Colourful Diwali Lanterns. What voltage do they use for the internal light source's power? That will be what determines the complexity of the project, because the answer is YES, but the cost may be inconvenient.

Thank you.

Another name for Colourful Diwali Lantern is Akash Kandil in Google engine search keyword.

Basically I want to replace the single coloured bulb by Colourful LEDS inside for
Colourful illumination.

The Outer design of the Akash Kandil decorated with coloured papers remains the same.

Of course it can be done but since the colors in the traditional lantern are determined by paper filters, you may as well use white LEDs.

Beware that LED light sources will not produce the same color after filtering as incandescent bulbs so some experimentation may be needed.

If you choose to use colored LEDs, you will have to devise a method of partitioning the illuminated panels to prevent blending and shading effects unless you intend to completely abandon the traditional appearance. For example, a lantern could be constructed of edge-lit RGBW panels but the weight and expense would be "non-traditional".

Thank you.

I will experiment with 1 All White LEDs 2 Different LEDs colours.

Here what I feel is it will be interesting to observe the light reflection illumination in the three Colourful Diwali Lanterns or Akash Kandil.
1 Traditional Akash Kandil with a single bulb
2 Akash Kandil with all White LEDs replacing the single coloured bulb.
3 Akash Kandil with Different coloured
LEDs replacing the single coloured bulb.

How many Leds numbers I.e count for power wattage calculations I may require for the Akash Kandil project ?.

With the smaller LED devices running at 20 mA, 0.020 amps, and 3 volts forward voltage, that is 60 milliwatts per LED. Thus it would take 100 LEDs to consume the same six watts as a small light bulb. Of course, this does nt include any power wasted in any current limiting resistors.

The optical design, eg. luminance, luminance efficiency, will govern the
number of LEDs used and calculations.

Of course a simple PWM arrangement of RGB LED cluster would effect
generation of broad range of color gamut.
