I went over this and it's very helpful, but it's over 5 years old and he says the unit shown if not for professional use. Anyone I could look at today?

Preferably from Amazon, I have a lot of pickup locations around and in my experience they have the best warranty.

That tells me that there are a lot of people branding this model. So you should be able to find it cheaper with a less-famous name on it!

They're on Amazon, but sadly at twice the price, and I can't see anything matching the appearance. I _really_ don't feel like dealing with an overseas supplier for that sort of thing.

It's all rather confusing. For instance, here is a piece with over 2x the power at half the price. The only explanation I can think of is that the temp setting is inaccurate. Could I test it with a laser thermometer, perhaps?

ETA Unless I should assume there's something fundamentally wrong with the PSU, in which case I have 30 days to find out about it.

I'd pick one with the controller/power supply in a larger case, since I suspect it's more repairable.
