A circuit has 120 volts and 5 amps. Calculate the vars.

Seems straight forward but it looks more like a watt/power calculation to me instead of a vars, am I missing something?

Volt-amperes-reactive=vars

 

What are the vars. I'm not familiar with that terminology.

 

I believe the term VARs stands for Volt-Amps Reactive.

I would have expected a phase angle to be included in the problem.

With no more than the information given, the only answer is plain old unreactive power - 600 watts. Don't you need some additional information for figuring reactive power?
