I had a gold star I was going to give to @tcmtech for a post he made that almost made sense. But now this one is better.

Almost. Kind of like the Trump interview with the AP earlier this week. Mumble, mumble mumble [unintelligible] - 19 times. There isn't much difference between the sentences with all Intelligible words from those with some unintelligible words. Nothing made sense. Trump is either ill, stupid or lying.

There are a lot of alumini who's reputation would be damaged by your claims and any of them can file.
Are you suggesting that the Alum approve of the activities destroying the property on their beloved University? Do you think they were "glad" the police backed down and allowed wanton disregard of current California statutes?

Berkeley's reputation was put on display as soon as it hit the news wire. Berkeley's administration also played a part, as did the town's government. Any defamation of Berkeley's character is the result of activities in Berkeley.

For the record ... I support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Criminal activities under the color of "Free Speech" is not a constitutionally guaranteed right. Those that aide and abet such activities are no better than the criminals themselves.

No, as I said above, and you failed to comprehend, there is no proof that the protesters are associated with Berkeley. There is plenty of proof they are coming in from other parts of the Bay Area and causing trouble. The fact that Berkeley budgets for a "normal and customary" level of security and doesn't budget for such a large influx of outside protesters and their level of violence is a reason to cancel an event and in no way makes them a suppressor of free speech.

Try again, Joe.

That's lame. If you're being overrun you ask for help (National Guard) and change tactics (declare marshal law and shoot protesters on sight). If you do less, that's your choice and shame on you.

Just figured out why TCM sees himself as the smartest man in the whole universe. When the universe only contains 357 people, he just might be that guy.

Youngstown, Ohio has experienced a decline of over 60% of its population since 1959

Edit:
I discredited that post, however when you begin to bring something substantiative to this thread, maybe I will be obliged.

GopherT,

I could care less where the protesters came from. The mere facts that the police retreated and failed to do their duty to arrest the criminals make it a Berkeley problem ... Both the school and city had officers present ... Until they retreated.

They didn't have to be associated with anything related to Berkley. The fact that the local security and law enforcement did not put any effort into controlling things nor calling for proper support and backup that was available made it their problem and showed exactly what they are about and it doesn't make them look good.

As far as free speech, their giving into threats and canceling speakers and the like because of threat is exactly what denying freedom of speech is about.
If you want to peacefully make someone stop stalking you debate them and prove them to be such a fool that no one will listen to them or take anything they say serious any more.

Just like has been done to you, ronv and shortbus here. Thanks to you own dismal abilities to defend your selves with any shred of honor or dignity very few outside of your own selves takes a damn thing you say serious any more.
Hell, most of us (that haven't put you on your ignore lists by now) laugh our asses off at what nonsense you guys post and consider legitimate rebuttals and defences simply because its shows us just how clueless you are of the very things you speak of and apparently base your life views on. :D
And sure, you too can say you laugh at us but the reality is it just looks pathetic because we know how your copy and repeat troll game tactics work and they are predictably sad at this point.

The fact is when good rational people and law enforcement don't stand up to this crap when they have every right to is exactly why it's getting as bad as it is now.
Those who want to violently protest, or just make asses of themselves over and over, now know they will be met with little to no real opposition by the majority because too many hold the right to free speech and right to assemble higher than they aught to, so they carry on and do as they please including destroying public and private property and hurting people that would in every other circumstance and situation get any of us knocked on our ass and tossed in jail without question. :(

This comes from a guy that lives in Chicago?
Well, no, it's a 100 miles from here.

Chicago is another example of people getting what they want. I see no evidence that Chicago wants to stop the violence there. Their words may say so, but their actions are consistent with promoting the carnage.I guess I'd say the same about Berkeley.

It's not rocket science. One of the fundamental roles of government is to seize the monopoly on violence. If you can't do that, get out of the way and call in someone who can.

The mere fact that police retreated means they were overwhelmed and it was the tactically prudent thing to do. You sound like it is the street cops' fault (or laziness). By that logic, no soldier should ever retreat/disengage/...

Weak mind when you cannot even put yourself in the cop's position. You speak so pro-cop on the other thread, are these cops somehow, "less blue"?

From my understanding, they were told to stand down. You may have heard something else.

I'm sure there will be an investigation.

I am pro cop.

We need a new Constitutional amendment............................ban all paid speech. You may only speak.............if you are NOT paid for it.

It obeys the Constitution. The Constitution says speech must be free. Therefore........it should be a crime to pay for it.
