No hard feelings if this thread gets closed; I'm sure it will be. As the guy who started it, I got out everything I wanted to get out, so it's original purpose has been served.

Along the way, another purpose for this thread has emerged, which I consider just as, or more important as the original purpose. The new purpose will be labeled political and so be it.

My personal conviction about the future of my country (and the world) trumps my willingness to comply with the no "politics" (quotation marks to denote subjective nature of the definition, or lack thereof, of politics) policy of the site. I'll try to keep it confined this, my thread, but if that's not good enough then I won't protest a ban (how could I?). Or you could just look away for a bit.

There is definitely a conspiracy, and it's no theory.
I agree there's a conspiracy, but just as I regulate what I let the largely state-run media convince me of, I also regulate what I let "conspiracy theorists" convince me of. I've already stated that I believe that the authorities knew that the attacks were eminent, and cited my source. As I watched the story unfold I also believe now that they had a pretty good idea who was going to do it.

It's a whole lot easier to twist a story by omission than by total fabrication of details or fabrication of an entire story. In this regard, the media/government (indistinguishable conglomerate heretofore referred to as media.gov) is winning the "war for my mind," as the "conspiracy theorists" continually pump out stories ranging from 'plausible but tragically and eternally unprovable' to 'worthy of the front page of Enquirer.' Omission is the tool most often used by media.gov to steer the herd. It takes a little more work, but they can still turn a story around to fit their agenda just by leaving out key details, and it's much more fool proof. They can have even more effect just by refusing to report entire stories that don't fit their agenda. And of course they can always claim the defense (and half the people in the crowd always stand up to chant along) "we sell what sells."

What else aren't we being told? You brought up the drones, that's a good one. Hard to quantify just how many innocent people we've killed lately as there isn't a daily update plastered on our TV screens. Recently a US senator stated that the number is 4700. That's a Boston marathon bombing every week, or every day, depending on the time scale.

What about the true condition of our economy? I see it as saturated cardboard box full of water, and the fed is running around jabbing holes and then feigning support by taping them over with re-used electrical tape. Where are the people who should telling us how to prepare for the future? Where are the credible, respectable, and knowledgeable figures telling us how to live sustainably? I have seen a little, but if these topics got anywhere near as much coverage in a month as Boston got in a week, we might be headed toward a graceful, possibly immediate recovery instead of a "fiscal cliff." I guess topics like this don't sell.

The kissing cousin of omission, exaggerated inclusion. Any time any little thing happens and a gun is involved, it is an instant nationwide story. Media.gov's intentions are as plain as day to me. They want to make people afraid of guns and afraid of people who own guns. On the day of, and in the days following Sandy Hook, there were 2 or 3 mass school stabbings. None of these were anything more than a blip in between interviews of people who lived down the street from someone who used to know someone who looked like Lanza and had a "Bushmaster." Just this month 14 people were stabbed at a campus just down the road from me and it didn't get more than a couple minutes air time on the LOCAL evening news. Had there been one person grazed by a bullet however, I wouldn't have even gotten to see the weather report. There is no gun violence ISSUE more than there is a knife violence issue or a baseball bat issue; the only ISSUE is that they are making it an ISSUE because that is what serves their agenda (to eventually disarm the citizens). And they are doing this on behalf of government.

I could go on all day about just how far I let myself go down which rabbit holes, but I think I'll stop with the essence of politics itself. I believe that politics, as the common man understands them, do not exist in any meaningful capacity. Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, only exist outside the walls of government offices. Inside those walls, everybody is on the same team. There might be a few truists or independents who would really shake things up if they could, but they cant. Or they get sidetracked and join the team. On the whole, most people become politicians because they want to rule people. These "political parties" may have existed for a brief window of time in our history, but any more, they are just a construct for us, propagated by the media; a set of false reasons for us to hate eachother and divide our house and kill the only chance we have to stand against them.

I feel the "political" climate (that is to say, the very REAL, very CONSEQUENTIAL, state of the world around us) changing and fear that there are some really big and scary changes coming, which have yet to take shape. I consider the following highly likely: Oppression, depression, devastation, famine, revolution. Not necessarily in that order.

Prepare yourself. Make plans. Learn how to feed yourself when the money stops coming in and the looters show up at your door.

...OK Mods, go ahead and seal the hatch, and see me off to solitary if you must ;)
