I'm wondering what would be a recommended first step to getting hired as a PCB designer.
My experience is mostly hobbyist level. I've built dozens of designs that include embedded systems.
I've worked with both Autodesk Eagle and KiCad 8.0.
I got my degree in electrical engineering 10 years ago but have been working in a different field
and want to transition to PCB design in the next couple years.
Questions I have are:
What sort of education is required and where do I go to find it?
Where else is a good place to get information anout this field other than All About Circuits forum?
Assuming I can move anywhere, what are some good business's that offer entry level positions?

Thank you

In olden days, PC board layout was its own industry. This was mostly due to the cost of the tools and a bit of carry over from the days of tape layout. These days a lot of EE's do their own layout. Unless it's a larger company that can compartmentalize functions, that's mostly what's out there. If that's what you really want to do you're going to need to find a larger company that has its own PCB layout department. To be honest I couldn't even tell you what companies might still have PCB layout departments. I'd guess that many outsource it overseas. The last company that I did layout work for now (laid off in 2003) outsources whole projects. They do very little product development in-house at all now.

There are people that understand electricity and physics at a level that few engineers can relate to.
The investment teams, board of directors, the patent attorneys and the research departments decision to formalize
contracts with a pcb company (not always out sourced, abundant) this involves a trusting relationship.
Such a designer brings with him what the pcb company wants, abundance. Mindset.
They will try desperately to recruit him, offer attractive benefits and incentives because survival depends on you.
If you come in the back door you might be treated as someone who there to just displace someone.
You want the company to view you as bringing them abundance not scarcity. Wow look at his Github files.
Look at what he did for Tiny VNA and SDR. Someone with 10 years has done things but did not have an agency to shine his portfolio.
There are lots of engineers with abundance here. The glass is half empty. NO it is more than half full because you choose that perspective.

Some people win super bowls and they think like this! and this is not for the faint hearted, turning negative into positive
