Automobile starter motor to power bicycle?

@ DerStrom8 - Have you done any more on this project? I came up with a pretty simple solution to keeping the pedals and still having a motor of your choice:)

Instead of mounting the motor so it drives from the pedals, you could get another rear wheel assembly complete with sprockets and mount it in the front fork. Then mount the motor to the fork. The battery/batteries would then mount in the center part of the frame. The same free wheel system that works for the rear wheel will allow the motor to coast when the pedals only are being used.

To be honest, I hadn't put much thought into using the front wheel as the drive wheel. I'll definitely think about it though--Just a little extra threaded rod and I think that would be possible...

I am about to head out to work on it, and to do a bit more planning. I will get back to you soon and let you know where it stands.

It's how the Honda motor Corperataion started.... son of a black smith putting generators on bicycles and using a battery. (battery and generater complimntes of the US military)
