Audio turntable bypass preamp circuit

Hello!

Have a Pioneer PL990 turntable. It has a small preamp PCB built in.

On the vinyl engine forum, some users discovered the PCB is capable of bypassing the preamp by adding a switch in the PCB as it appears the PCB was hardware limited just by not adding the switch - probably used on various turntable models where some allowed phono/line options.

On this link: Vinyl Engine Pioneer PL990 preamp bypass the user shows images of his PCB with added switch and says: "only required to solder out two wires that simulate the ON position of the missing switch and solder in the switch itself."

I have attached images of my board which appears to be the same as his.

I would ask the questions there but they have been closed to new registrations for some time.

I think he means he removed the two short jumper wires where the SW101 is marked on the board?

I have a switch that would perfectly fit the SW101 socket on the PCB - but do I solder in all eight feet?

Thanks for any advice!

YES, although of there are positions with no conductors you do not need to. But certainly the two end tabs that hold the switch in place must be soldered.
