Are Direct Current Miniature Circuit Breakers any good?

DC MCBs seem to be a relatively new thing - getting more popular with solar installations. They are a premium price from distributors, but cheap and plentiful on AliExpress. How do they differ from normal MCBs? They are in the same size package, have similar voltage ratings yet they have to break a DC arc. Do they work better than a fuse?

I think the acronym MCB is new to most people and ought to be spelled out, especially in an introductory discussion.

As far as I understand, the DC version has a better breaking clearance to handle the heavier sparking of DC vs AC.

I used standard 240VAC household MCBs from GE for break panels on 24V solar systems, as they were rated by GE for up to 48VDC, albeit at a qualified current value. The DC-specific breakers are primarily used for grid-tied and MPPT solar arrays which run at high DC voltages.

Does anything beat a fuse? Except not as convenient when chasing an intermittent trip.

Ok - one for the acronyms and terminology thread.
I'm just curious: in your part of the world, what shows up if you type "MCB" into Google?
