Do you know about Arduino's why they light up when connected to the USB port , but the port does not get recognized by the IDE ?

 

If this is a clone arduino then you may not have the driver for the CH340 serial chip that they use.

Yes, a clone. I have the driver installed and it was working fine. Now its been almost 2 months. But this past week since I did something goofy ! it stopped working.
I am not sure If I fried something on the board

 

All these devices were used fairly well since last 3 years and they ran fine. Now since the bootup LED lights up. I am thinking some chip must have been fried.


The one on the right is connected to the USB of my mac - hence the red light. The one of the left also exhibits the same behaviour, it also lights up , but the /dev/wchusbserial.xxx does not show up in the Arduino IDE.

 

If you have board which is recognised and another, same type of board, which is not recognised then you may be right, it is defunct.
