Good evening everyone,

My final year project, as per my previous thread, has been revised. I have included the conceptual design that I have drawn as per what I understood from the requirements of my supervisor.

I have searched online for roughly a few hours and finally came across this BB-Conv chip: Model - LT1073CN85#PBF
Max Iout - 400mA
Max fsw- 23kHz
Vin,min - 1V
Vin,max - 30V
Vout,min to max - 4.75V to 5.25V
Produced by: Linear Technology

Just to ask, is this chip suitable for implementation in my project? If not, are there any chips that you guys can recommend that I can use?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time!

We like to answer but we can not. This is like the question 'how long is a rope'.
We need all spec's current usage min max input voltage and the proper drawings.
Does the MPU shut down under a input level? ( no light or is the second mpu also connected to external power ?)
How does it switch on again?

Hi Picbuster, thank you for the reply. Apologies on not giving a proper clarification of the requirements.
The Vin of the B.B. chip will vary between 1V to 12V (assuming ideal Panels). The output of the buck boost will be fixed at 5V, at an estimated 0.5-1W.
I am so sorry I am unable to provide any further details.

I’m as blank as what I have written given that my project supervisor doesn’t provide any clear direction as to what he wants. In addition contacting him is like trying to reach someone on mars. I am utterly at a loss.

Thank you!

Not having this information might lead you to a working design that might contradict the expectations of the supervisor. And you end up as the bad/ stupid guy.
It is in my opinion extreme bad leadership to handle personnel this way.

The best advice I can give you;
1: Put your concerns in writing to the project manager and copy his boss.
2:Make sure to him that you are willing to produce a solution but not able to, due to lack of information.
3:Tell him that you regret to put this project on hold waiting wanted spec's and information needed.

Good luck
