Three men who shot and killed Amado Arbury while running in Satilla Shores, Georgia were convicted of murder by a jury.

Travis McMichael was found guilty in all respects, and his father Gregory McMichael was found guilty in all respects except malicious murder. William “Rodi” Brian was found guilty of a felony murder and charged with a number of charges, including exacerbation of assault, imprisonment, and attempted felony. The jury reportedly deliberated for 10 hours before reaching the verdict.

 

Justice done.

 

It'd be pretty hard to make a credible case that that killing was even remotely justifiable - even in Georgia.

And the sentencing just came in. The father and son, life with no parole. The neighbor life with a chance for parole. Ought to put a damper on vigilantism in Georgia.

Until this trial I never knew where the "citizens arrest" came from, at least in Georgia. But Wikipedia says different than what was presented in the trial.

Yep, the prosecutor destroyed their defense by quoting the law showing they did not satisfy the conditions.

Gross miscarriage of justice IMO. Arbery was a thief and a miscreant who was shot while attempting to wrestle a gun from someone who was TRYING to protect his community. (And no, he wasn't "out for a jog" either. He was casing the area for future thefts.)

 

The defense was not allowed to present the criminal history of Aubery to the jury. He was a thief and had a history of reacting violently when apprehended. Hiding in the shadows and representing the family was Ben Crump who has a history of taking criminals and polishing their appearance to be cute little choir boys instead of what they really are by using childhood pictures of them and rousing racial implications and brining in Sharpton, Jackson, other racial rabble rousers and organizing racial protests having nothing to do with the facts of the case in order to taint the jury and public opinion. He also represented the family of Trayvon Martin. From the comments here, he apparently did a good job.
