Anyone know if there is a significant difference between a TLC272CP dual Op Amp and a TLC27L2CP? I've looked at the datasheets and can't see anything obvious but it's hard to compare as the datasheets don't present the information in the same order

Hello,

Have a look at IDD of the TLC27L2 and compare it with of the TLC272.
There is a factor of about 100 in the given current.
The TLC27L2 is the low power version.

The TLC27L2 is the low power version.
To run at the lower power, the TLC27L2 it is also lower speed and gain bandwidth product:
0.03V/us, and 85kHz versus 3.5v/us and 1.7MHz.

The low power version is not a good choice for an audio amplifier because of this.

As a compromise, there is the medium power version, the TLC27M2. Still not real good for audio, though.

Thanks, looking for low power battery operation so I'll go for the L version it was just that I had a 272 on hand so considered using it.

OK. So you need to order some TLC27L2's. In the mean time, go ahead and use the TLC272 while you are waiting for the TLC27L2 to arrive.
