Any e-bikers out there?

I love bicycles. Rode them for as long as I can remember.
But aging is unforgiving, and in the past couple of years I’ve found that I no longer have the stamina to keep the pace with the younger members of my bike club.

Thus I pulled the trigger and purchased an e-bike this Thanksgiving. So far I love it, but there is a technical detail I would like to elaborate.

This is related to the throttle control. The throttle rotation from stop to end stop is about 45 degrees.
But of those 45 degrees of rotation, only about 10 actually control the motor current.
The first 15 of travel, absolutely nothing happens. Then one has the 10 useful ones, and the last 20 it is always full throttle.

The pedal assist is similar. The smallest input from your legs and one gets full torque.

Makes it difficult to control the speed accurately. I contacted the vendor, and replied that this is the way it is. Get used to it.
Reminds me of the response of 2-stroke Motocross bikes. A very steep torque curve.

Any other e-bikers having similar experiences?

I have owed about four ebikes. Most controllers only have three settings, besides OFF, low, medium, high.
Low is too high. It would be nice to have one setting below low and another setting between low and medium. But that's the way it is. I rarely use it at full power. I would be nice to have at least 5 settings.

How about sharing details of the bike? There may be others on this forum who have the same model and have either lived with the problem or resolved it. Presumably you didn't buy it from a local store otherwise you could simply take it back as "not fit for purpose"? Honestly it doesn't seem at all right to me.

As suggested, by camerart, a pedelec is a great solution, you can adjust the torque assistance you get according to how hard you are pedalling which leaves you in complete control of the speed, just requiring less effort to achieve it. In my view e-bikes are outrageously expensive - I purchased a Chinese hub motor and converted an old bike to a pedelec - using an Arduino and a chain mounted tension sensor using 3 jockey wheels for a fraction of the cost

Mr Chips;
This bike has also four, what it calls pedal assist, levels. Plus zero assist.
Basically what that entails is the maximum current, and thus the motor torque. 2, 5, 7, 11 maximum amps respectively at 48 volts.

But it also has a throttle, to adjust between 0 and 100% of the maximum. This would mean between 0 and 5 amps in assist 2. The problem I am facing is that this 0 to 100% occurs at a throttle’s very narrow rotation range.
Makes controlling the speed accurately a little tiring.

I should have mentioned that two of my ebikes came with Shimano gear shifters.
The first bike had only 6 gears. The highest (top speed) was not high enough. My legs were cranking too fast.
The second bike had 7 gears. The highest was a big improvement. It could still use another gear for when riding faster.

I also have an electric folding bike which is very convenient for packing two bikes into the back of an SUV. This has a single gear transmission with three power levels. This is the one that can use two extra levels, below and above the 1st level. I never use it at level 3.

Well, I'm surprised, it gets some pretty good reviews

Does make me wonder if yours is faulty. Maybe post your experience in the comments of some you tube reviews and see what replies you get?
Don’t get me wrong, I love the bike. It is very well made.
And I have contacted customer service. ABSOLUTELY NO complaints here. They replied promptly and courteously. They advise that the throttle behavior is absolutely normal.

Perhaps I am the abnormal one?
