I can imagine the screens at Mission Control during a critical maneuver:
“Please wait a few minutes while we finish the installation. Close any open programs as any unsaved data will be lost.”

 

I wonder how much it has to do with programmers writing software instead of engineers.

Nothing, watch and learn about some real technological innovation.

Nice video. I knew that there had been many lunar impacts, both intentional and unintentional, but it was great to see a quick, concise history of them all to appreciate the scope and diversity of the history.

None of the news segments that I saw leading up to the impact (and there were many, it was a focus of the coverage by everyone, or so it seemed, for days) mentioned any prior impacts, unintentional or not. They made it seem like this was a first-ever event. But I haven't seen any of these same "news" sources even mention the story post-impact.
