An anemometer with windvane

hi, im making a 3-cups anemometer with windvane. im planing to use a hall sensor to count the windspeed, but what about the wind direction? can i know which sensor is suit to measure both of the wind speed and wind direction?

In post # 5, Gray code, looked like it might be handy, but with conventional decoding to decimal I get strange results, 1, 2, 13, 18, 29, 28, 3, 4, 27, 26, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 23, 24, 31, 25, , 22, 14. Lost 2 numbers . Found 17, & 30.

Yes, that's the way gray code works. Only one bit changes at a time so you don't get strange values at the change points which you would if you tried to code it in decimal. You could use a look up table to get the angle you need.
