All About Wendy

I have been in favor of that "none of the above" choice for quite a few years!! It makes sense, and certainly it COULD PROVIDE much better choice options. BUTthe implementation would not be simple or cheap.

I think to run for office you almost have to be narcissistic. Some of them are actually wanting to serve. The job tends to corrupt them over time. If they weren't corrupt already.

Hi,

That sounds kind of right, and it gets worse as time goes on because they make rules that favor themselves most of the time, and that invites more corruption. It must take a VERY respectable person to avoid all that, and try to ignore that many of them are already doing disrespectable things. If everyone is doing it, there's nothing wrong with it anymore.

There is probably nothing we can do about it either because they made sure there is no way to do anything about it. All they need is one reason that seems good enough to make a new rule that favors themselves and then it's law. It does not matter if it affects millions of people as long as it sounds good. We have to be thankful it hasn't gotten any worse too quickly.

There are some good points too though depending on your state what you need out of life. I'm still thankful for that.

Thats dangerous thoughts Mr AI
Follow that logic , we end up not voting, or voting for someone that pushes "change" or headlines , no details on policy
Or were like the french and riot !

Well there is more to it than that obviously. Not all politicians are bad. Some programs are very good and they must have been initiated by some politician or group of them.
Some of it is just frustrating that's all. That's partly because we have very little power to change anything in a time frame that seems appropriate.
I'm not sure I want to talk about this anymore though because some of it can be misinterpreted.

It's just more evidence that civilization is a self-defeating concept.

That's an interesting conclusion. I hope it's not true, but the way things go greed seems to win the day every time, or at least present some very hard problems to solve, and some (such as with foreign countries) seems to be insurmountable due to such extreme difference in beliefs.

We had a couple incidents here in NJ where a senator had some charges brought up against them. It is interesting that the way he got around them was because of a law they changed in a not too distant past which made it ok for them to do some things that were not allowed before they changed that law. He got off, only to be brought up on corruption charges maybe a couple years later that were much harder to beat, so he got kicked out and sentenced to a federal prison term I think was 11 years long.
The first charge was corruption too but it could not be held up because they made the law easier for them to get away with it prior to that charge.

The thing that seems to be forgotten here is that when they serve in such an important role like that, they should be unequivocally above reproach, more so than just an average citizen. They might not see it that way anymore.
