I have to wonder how long it will take for me to regret this decision. At best I can hope for benign neglect.
My wife routinely beats down our cable company to a lower price. But even so it is high. She does it a fw times a year, when they want to boost rates, mostly.

It is getting to the point where my communications (TV cable/sat, landline, cell, internet) is almost to the point of costing more than the electric bill, which being on a well includes the water/sewage. Gotta stay after them. Good Job Wendy!

Today I am asking for a favor from anyone in AAC. Typing with one hand continues to be a major PITA. Bought a headset with a microphone, but it gives weak audio to the computer. I have a mic but same issue. I bought a USB mic but, you guessed it, weak signal. I am trying to find some way to dictate using either Win 10's build in speech to text or one of the many other options out there. How do I know the audio input is weak? Win 10 has a recorder function. All the various mics work, but the playback volume is low.

Could someone please make me a mic w/ a preamp going to a 3.5mm stereo TSR jack? The idea is to dictate to my computer instead of typing real slow like I am now. While I will get back into the game,my ability with no resources is limited. Just like my cash.

This sheltering in place crap sucks big time.

I just got my email back, wow broke email for about 12 hours last nite.
Until somebody closer can put one together for you, how about adding a small paper cone around the mic to concentrate more voice energy into it. Just a quick suggestion that you may be able to implement until then.

Slowly, oh so slowly, I'm getting my mojo back. I am working on the things I can do, I just have to learn patience. Not one of my stronger skills, time to learn I guess.

A lot has happened since my last post here, most of it positive (no electrons involved). I have squirreled away my stimulus check and am now starting to spend the money. I now have a ramp to the garage as well as a garage door opener. The ramp needs some finishing work done but access to all my tools and test equipment is in sight (not to mention the laundry machines). Soon sometime next month I will have access to my bathrooms, which I have sorely missed. All in all, thing are going my way.

A good friend out right gave me a gaming computer. A very good friend indeed.

Still going more crazy sheltering in my house.

I spend a lot of time figuring out how to things w/ one hand, I have a lot of powerful neodymium magnets. That and a square metal bed frame come in very handy. I have relearned Excel (actually Libra open office) and that has helped me a lot controlling my finances, this brain damaged gal needs all the help she can get.

PS: Don't mention the washing machine or dryer.

Good for you, Wendy! Carry On! Ramps provide access, So ramps are important indeed.
Not sure about the magnets, that may be an interesting topic if not to private.

Life is strange. Because of Covid 19 I received a stimulus check just in time where I recovered mentally enough to manage my finances properly. So I put it into a savings account until I really needed it. I lucked into a more than competent handyman who has very reasonable rates. So far he has built a ramp into the garage which I am frantically searching to recover my sh* stuff. I h have my two power supplies, o scope, and multiple DVMs. It is going to take a long while recataloging my components and tools. Of the tools I am most happy to see include my flat vise (for a person with only one hand it is a godsend), Makita cordless drill, my full drill bit set, taps, and Dremal. I have put all of them to good use already. Not to mention the band saw and drill press (which I haven’t quite figured out how to use it yet).

I now have access to my master bedroom bathroom. The door has been removed and the frame widened. After the rails are finished (a lot has been done on that front already) I’ll be able to use the toilet instead of my bed, puppy pads, and my diaper. I have a Foley catheter surgically implanted (AKA supra catheter, google it) and can now empty it unassisted. I have my groceries delivered and am working towards being truly independent. Every little bit helps emotionally.

I am going to have a lot more projects and articles on here long term. I will be posting on this thread a lot less because I am and plan to be too stinking busy. Soldering is going to be problematic, I will be asking help making specialty cables ( such as a mono ear phone jack to 24 gauge wires to bring my cheap AM radio’s audio to a protoboard.

This post is the last thing I’ll do before going to bed.

GOOD FOR YOU, Wendy!!! Never give up!!!
I have seen pictures of a solder-feed device that goes over the top of a soldering gun, but not recently. Look at the pictures of wire-feed welder setups for some ideas. A foot-pedal controlled wire solder feed could be one option, but it would take some thinking.
Last week I also did the doorway widening for a client in a new wheelchair. Doorway widening can be tedious but not really hard.
I wish you a good recovery.

I have a 30W soldering gun that has a trigger mechanism to feet solder. Until I rig a base with a dimmer to hold the iron and set the temperature I won't use it. Now I need to find a one handed solder sucker and I'm good to go.

I am asking someone to make a male RCA phono jack to leads to use with a protoboard. I may just buy a jumper cord and modify it. One of my mottos is all things come your way if you can be patient and keep your eyes open.

can it be cleaned with one hand behind your back?
Nope, that is the downside, it is a bear to clean with both hands. Very poorly designed for cleaning but does a great job sucking solder. It will do quite a bit of desoldering before it needs cleaning.
