Hi
I need help with run capacitor. I have a zanussi tumble dryer 250volt 2800watt.. Capacitor was dead, so ordered a new capacitor(wrong one) direct from Zanussi, which is 8uF 425/475 volt rating with -2% and +8% tolerance. The actual capacitor in the tumble dryer is 9uF with similar rating and tolerance. I replaced it anyway just to test if it runs.
It does work but I am worried that can it do some damage in the long run as it is 8uF instead of 9uF.
So if someone can advise me that should I keep using it or should I replace it with the 9Uf.
Thanks.

Thanks Dodgydave.
My calculation made 8uF with +8% 8.64 and 9uF with -2% 8.82. It is close but still little difference.

If it starts reliably, then dont worry about when it runs. The reactance of the 8uF is higher, so the current in the motor winding will be less than it would have been with 9uF. Motor will run cooler; not hotter.
