As a model railroader, I know the DDA40X was a MONSTER machine.

 

Yes, that was a monster Diesel locomotive.
It generated 6600HP from two engines.

The biggest steam locomotive built (the Big Boy) was comparable with about 6,000HP.
It was also almost like two engines with 4 cylinders driving 2 pairs of 8 drive wheels.
