Evening all,

Looking for a little assistance with an issue we have, we have been sent a circuit that requires a 16v ac 40w 60hz supply, I have a transformer that is 230v ac input - 16v ac output 40w 50hz rated. How achievable is it to convert the frequency from 50hz to 60hz. Alternatively the PCB has a 12v dc battery backup connection which I could use temporarily.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

What is the circuit?
Most times, the frequency is not that critical, unless it is used for timing or motor speed.

 

At such a relatively low power level you could drive the circuit with the output of an audio amplifier fed through a suitable transformer. Then use an oscillator to provide the frequency. A bit complicated if you intend to use the circuit for an extended time, though.
I am wondering as to just what part the power supply frequency plays in the circuit. Are you able to provide more of a description of the circuit?
